Gerard Pique had convinced Matthijs De Ligt not to Join Barcelona (details)
According to fresh news coming out of Catalonia, Gerard Pique had convinced Matthijs De Ligt not to join Barcelona in 2019.
In 2019, De Ligt was crazy to sign for Barcelona. However, the player decided against it because Piqué told him it was not the right time to sign for Barça. He argued that the Dutchman would not have enough minutes. Piqué denies this, but De Ligt and Mino Raiola don’t.
In a recent interview a journalist had claimed former president Josep Maria Bartomeu had called him to explain every detail of what happened.

Albert Lesan: “After the program yesterday, JM Bartomeu called me. He said that in 2019, Piqué and De Ligt coincidentally met each other vacationing in the Caribbean. Piqué told De Ligt that it was not the right time to come to Barça. After that, he moved to Juventus instead.”
Albert Lesan: “According to him, Bartomeu then asked Piqué if he had said that. Piqué did say that they met each other, but that he had never told De Ligt not to come to Barça. He insists that everything was agreed with Ajax and Mino Raiola, but it broke down after this.”
Albert Lesan: “Bartomeu also told me De Ligt has a €75m release clause which is only valid for Barça. I didn’t know that.”
With this recent information, it is obvious Gerard Pique has been silently involved in various issues concerning the club.
It was currently revealed that he had a hand in the departure of Messi amongst many others.
