“Europa League knockout qualification is Arsenal’s first step in the right direction” – Mikel Arteta says
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has stressed that the gunners knockout stage qualification in the Europa League is their first step in the right direction.
This is coming after Arsenal secured a hard fought 1-0 victory over PSV at the emirates thanks to a Granit Xhaka lone goal.
The victory ensures Arsenal’s knockout stage qualification and makes them a step away from qualifying as Group winners.
The victory now means Arsenal are unbeaten the Europa league with four wins out of four and thirteen wins out of fourteen this season.
After the game, Arteta said :
“We had really good moments, and we were really dominant against a really good side,”
“I think we just lacked that final pass or shot. But we’re very happy to win the game, and we [have] qualified, which is the first step.
“In Europe, you have to control the opponent. They are very talented, used to winning and the amount of goals they have scored is incredible. We were really composed and mature.
He continued :
“When you have the chance in Europe, you have to take it. The difference between finishing first and second is big, and we want to get the job done.”
